Do You Know These Three Criteria for Motivation?

Motivation is a result of three things:

Persistence, Intensity and Direction.
Persistence – Time, how long you do something. Someone who is persistent doesn’t give up towards reaching their goal.
Intensity - How hard you do something. You can’t have a lackluster attitude.
Direction – A goal, what you’re trying to reach.
Without a clear definition of each, that’s when motivation isn’t there.

How to Implement Each Step To Become More Motivated

1. Persistence

  • Write down one thing you’re going to do on your calendar the next day towards the goal you’re trying to achieve. In the words of Winston Churchill, never give up. Ever. Ever. Ever.

2. Intensity

  • Use music that gets you pumped up, and always push yourself to your limits. The more intensely you work on something, the faster the results.

3. Direction

  • Set a goal for what you want to do, and be very specific. For example, gain 10 lbs of muscles in 5 months.

My belief in the majority of the population

I just finished reading a great article from lifeoptimizer, a blog I frequently read to get motivation to do stuff. One of the things I liked the most was it told me something that I could relate to, but I couldn’t put in words.

That was basically having an external motivation. “External motivation like money or fame is not enough. Your source of motivation should be something you believe in.”

Something that I believe in is that a vast majority of the population have the ability to become something special if they push themselves and apply themselves to the correct principles in life. I believe that they can achieve money or fame is they do the correct things, regardless of class status (within realms that’s don’t go over like excessive poverty that prevents escape such as third world countries).

What seperates you from other people?

Sometimes, I feel lazy and unmotivated to do things. I procrastinate for no reason, just because I don’t feel like doing it. Then I ask myself, how can I succeed in life if I’m like this? I came up with the question and answer in mind and ask and answer it every time I feel I need to push myself.

What seperates you from other people?

I work harder.

Running for the first time in a long time.

Man,  so it’s been forever since the last time I ran for more than 20 minutes and my legs have been killing me.

It didn’t help that I played basketball that same day, so heh.

I think I should have drank some muscle milk, that might have helped to reduce the amount of soreness that I had.

While I was walking back from class today in a shady neighborhood, I was like argh, this would be such a bad position to have to run if someone tried to jump me.

Priding yourself in something

When times are tough and things are looking grim, I feel that one of the things that you should do is pride yourself in something.

A motivational sentence, something to keep you moving forward.

Here’s a fortune cookie I got from Panda Express, one of my favorite American-ized Chinese Restaurants:

“Your confidence will lead you to success.”

It made me smile inside and thought it really thought it struck a chord in me.

That’s one of the things I pride myself in, confidence.
