Skip the breaths — Hands only CPR works
“In a major change, the American Heart Association said Monday that hands-only CPR — rapid, deep presses on the victim’s chest until help arrives — works just as well as standard CPR for sudden cardiac arrest in adults.”
It used to be that they recommended alternating two breaths and chest presses, but just chest presses is said to be more effective right now because it’s believed that there is enough oxygen going to the brain if it’s from a heart attack.
The only chest presses helps immensely because there are people who are just unwilling to give deep breaths to strangers. This gives more people a chance to survive from cardiac arrest, because it’s less awkward.
